Team Ireland’s European U17 Championship medal tally has risen to 6, following the completion of all quarter finals today.
Ronan Charles is now a two-time European medalist – he has added at least U17 bronze to his 2025 European U15 Championship silve. Today, he took on Andria Piljani of Germany in his 46kg quarter final, and was the 4-1 winner -scored 27:30; 29:28; 28:29; 28:29; 27:30; 27:30. Ronan is back in action, and boxing for an up-grade, in Friday’s Afternoon Session.
Thomas O’Reilly is also assured of at least a bronze – He was the unanimous decision winner over Artur Mangold of Germany in their 75kg quarter final. He boxes his semi final on Friday and is now a double European medalist, having won gold at the 2025 European U15 Championship.
Rylee Finn is also, now, a medalist. The 48kg boxer is assured of at least bronze following his unanimous decision quarter final win over Samvel Grigoryan of Armenia, scored 30:27; 30:27; 29:28; 30:27; 30:27. Rylee is back in action on Friday, boxing to step up the podium.
Martin Nevin will come home with at least bronze. He was the 4-1 winner over Nichita Slepoi of Moldova in their 52kg quarter final and judges scored the bout 28:29; 27:30; 27:30; 27:30; 29:28. Martin is back in the ring on Friday, boxing for an up-grade.
Paddy Nevin has medaled, despite losing the first round. He boxed his 70kg quarter final against Ukraine’s Oleksandr Lutsenko, and was down on all scorecards in to the second – he turned the bout around, going on to claim a 3-2 win 29:28; 28:29; 28:29; 29:28; 28:29. Paddy is back in action on Friday, looking to upgrade and win a place in Saturday’s finals.
Pat Stokes exits the championships, with a brave performance. He took on Russia’s Stepan Demianov in his 50kg Quarter Final. The 5-0 decision went to Demianov and was scored 28:29; 28:29; 27:30; 28:29; 27:30. Pat has had an excellent championships, including wins over Scotland’s Charlie Bonnar and Czechia’s Vojtech Halinar. Christy Joyce has also bowed-out. He boxed his 60kg quarter final against Eduard Karamayan of Armenia, and the 4-1 decision went to his opponent. Judges scored the bout 29:28; 28;29; 29:28; 30:27; 30:27. Christy has secured two keynote wins in Budva, over Poland’s Ksawery Urbanski and Ukraine’s Kostiantyn Slipchuk. Daisy Kieran’s championships is also over, following a tough quarter final. The Team Ireland Co-Captain took on Italy’s Morena Stifani in the 57kg quarter final, and the 4-1 decision went to Stifani, scored 27:29; 26:29; 28:29; 28:29; 29:28.

Competition Schedule
Boxing begins on October 3rd, and there is no rest day at this tournament. All finals and medal ceremonies will take place on Saturday, October 10th. All Afternoon Sessions begin at 1pm, Irish time, and Evening Sessions start at 5pm.
