Boxing positively impacts communities like no other sport. We build character. We teach discipline, confidence, respect and resilience – values that last a lifetime. We are immensely proud of the role we play for young people across the island, and the impact Boxing Ireland clubs have on their members and local communities.
Ours is a long and proud sporting tradition, where clubs spanning generations open their doors daily to new members from all walks of life and newer clubs strive to build their own legacies.
The Irish Athletic Boxing Association as formed in 1911 and is the all-island Governing Body of Ireland’s most successful Olympic sport. Our goal is to translate our keynote success in the ring to success in the administration and growth of our sport, becoming innovative, inclusive and development-focused. IABA rebraned as Boxing Ireland in January 2026.
We are home to over 360 boxing clubs in 32 counties, with a membership of over 25,000 people, ranging in age from 5 to 80+. We are a diverse community, with members from a wide variety of heritages and cultural traditions.
Ours is a proudly volunteer-led organisation where the hard work, dedication and significant time afforded by every member contributes to the international achievements of Irish boxing, and the positive impact boxing clubs have on their local communities.
