Euro U17 | 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 4 Bronze

Team Ireland will return from Budva, and the 2026 European U17 Championships with 6 medals: 1 gold, 1 silver and four bronze.

Ireland also finished 7th in the overall medals table, out of 40 countries. England finished first, Russia second and Ukraine 3rd.

Paddy Nevin has been crowned European U17 Champion at 70kg. The Mullingar Elite BC, Westmeath boxer was the unanimous decision winner over Poland’s Oliwier Piotrowski Paddy’s path to the podium included wins over Slovenia’s Aleks Vas, Bagrat Ghazaryan of Armenia, Oleksandr Lutsenko of Ukraine and Azerbaijan’s Hidayat Mammadov.

And Thomas O’Reilly is a European U17 Championship silver medalist! Thomas, of Portlaoise BC, boxed his 75kg final against England’s Ivor Lee, with the decision going to Lee. Thomas’ path to the podium included wins over Aliaksandr Korda of Belarus, Germany’s Artur Mangold and Veselin Dedic of Montenegro.

Four Team Ireland boxers received bronze medals today. Ronan Charles, now a double European medalist, having claimed silver in the 2025 European U15 Championships, was awarded his medal. His U17 championship journey has included wins over Deyan Attard of Malta and Andria Piljani of Germany.

Macie Duffy O’Connor has received her 48kg bronze. Her championships has included wins over Aydan Ismayilli of Azerbaijan and Jenna Dailly of Scotland. Rylee Finn has also received his 48kg bronze – his journey has included wins over Deniss Haschenko of Latvia, Rei Collaku of Albania and Samvel Grigoryan of Armenia.

And Martin Nevin has been awarded his 52kg bronze, having has secured keynote wins over Danylo Sielieznov of Ukraine, Levani Tepania of Georgia and Moldova’s Nichita Slepoi during his European championship journey.

A record-breaking 473 boxers contested the championships, of whom 158 are women and 315 are men.
