The 2027 High Performance Selection Policy has been approved by the Board of Directors.
Boxers intending to enter and compete in the 2027 Elite Championships are invited to review the policy, so that they may understand how boxers become part of the National High Performance Squad and, thereafter, the criteria used to selection boxers to compete at international benchmark events.
High Peformance Director Jon Mackey says “A number of months’ work has been put in to this, including a consultation with the athletes and our coaching staff here at the Institute (of Sport).
In this policy, the pathway to the National Team is clearly outlined. Next year is a very busy year…We’ve got two Olympic qualification tournaments next year. All boxers, to be eligible for selection for next year must enter the National Elite Championships in January as the first of two stages of the process.”
