Advisory | Election Policy Review

Boxing Ireland CEO, Gary Stewart, has today shared this message with all clubs, county boards and provincial units:

“The Board of Directors is undertaking a review of the IABA Election Policy (September 2024), to ensure alignment with the 2019 Rulebook and the practical operation of elections across all levels of the organisation. This review is being undertaken in consideration of elections later this year.

As part of this review, particular consideration is being given to the application of term limits and election cycles across County Boards, Provincial Units and Central Council, to ensure that governance structures remain effective, proportionate, and reflective of operational realities across the organisation.

At this time, no changes have been implemented. The purpose of this communication is to advise clubs that this review is underway.

Full details in respect of the election process for County Boards, Provincial Units and Central Council, including any clarifications or updates, will be shared with all clubs and units by the end of May.

This will include consideration of a more standardised and accessible approach to the conduct of elections across all units.

We appreciate your patience while this work is being completed and thank you, as always, for your continued support.

If you have any queries in the interim, please do not hesitate to get in touch.”
