Boxing Ireland is making four coaching courses available over the coming 6 weeks; all courses are open for booking by clubs through their Blocworx portals.
Clubs should review the applicable course types and criteria in advance of booking.
Criteria
Any member of any successfully affiliated club is, with the support of their club, welcome to develop their coaching qualifications. Coaching Education applications are submitted by the club by means of booking through their Blocworx portal, and must meet the following criteria:
*Be a member of a Boxing Ireland approved affiliated club.
*Aged 18 or over.
*Valid Garda Vetting/Access NI Check or proof of submission of Garda Vetting application/Access NI Check. Information on the Garda Vetting and AccessNI processes is available here
*Have completed the required safeguarding training and produce evidence of same. Boxing Ireland’s Safeguarding learning calendar is available here. Intending participants may also undertake Safegarding training through a Local Sports Partnership.
*Have completed the Boxing Ireland Fundamentals qualification, and have been actively coaching within their club for a minimum of 6 months.
*The appropriate fee must be paid, in full, in advance. The fee is non-refundable in the event the applicant does not attend the relevant course.
*Any intending participant of a Level One course is required to hold a Fundamentals qualification, and have been actively coaching in their club for a minimum of 6 months.
Fundamentals courses are for those wishing to begin their coaching career and gain an excellent grounding in fundamental technical aspects of boxing. Assistant coaches may sit at second corner at club, county, provincial and national level bouts. This is a full day in-person course.
Level One courses are for those who have a Boxing Ireland Fundamentals: Assistant Coach qualification, and who have actively coached for a minimum of 6 months, post qualification. Level One qualified coaches may sit at first or second corner at club, county, provincial and national level bouts. This course is 22 hours in duration, including 2 in-person days and 2 online learning workshops
