An EGM will take place on Sunday, August 2nd at the National Basketball Arena, Tallaght, Dublin.
The EGM is being convened following receipt of a requisition by member clubs concerning term limits and phased rotation for County Boards and Provincial Councils. The concern raised by the requisitioning clubs is that a number of officers may reach the end of the permitted period of consecutive service at the same election, with a resulting loss of knowledge and potential handover and continuity issues. Boxing Ireland’s Rules Committee has examined the requisition, and proposes retaining the current maximum of three consecutive two-year terms, being six consecutive years, and the existing requirement for a break of at least 24 months before a person may become eligible for future elections. Instead of extending the maximum period of consecutive service, elections for the six principal offices would be staggered annually. . At the EGM, attending member clubs will be asked the following single question: Do you support the Rules Committee proposal to retain the existing maximum of three consecutive two-year terms and the 24-month break, while introducing staggered annual elections for the six principal County Board and Provincial Council offices as described above? YES / NO
The outcome will be an indicative expression of the membership’s view. It will be communicated to the Board and considered by the Rules Committee when finalising any detailed amendments and transitional arrangements. The vote will not, by itself, automatically amend the Rulebook or Election Policy.

Attendees: Eligible clubs may nominate any two adult members to attend as delegates – one to be a voting delegate, one to be a non-voting delegate. Delegates nominated by clubs must be over the age of 18. *Please note, delegates will be required to present photographic identification (passport, drivers’ licence, etc) on the day of the EGM.
