Boxing Ireland is platforming, as part of Women in Sport Week, the pathways in to our sport for women and girls who want to box, but not to compete.
Over 400 women and girls have taken part in Sligo Women’s Startbox and Leitrim Girls Startbox programmes since January.
These programmes are designed as non-contact “taster’ introductions in to boxing in a community setting and were delivered by Sligo Boxing Development Officer Maeve Clarke and Dearbhla Rooney, respectively.
Both programmes run with the support of Sligo and Leitrim Sports Partnerships.
While 4,000 girls had access to boxing intro sessions delivered by Boxing Ireland coaches led by Women in Sport Lead Sophie Doolan, at the iWish festival, and at Sport Ireland’s HerMoves festival.
