Sport Ireland is inviting boxing clubs and boxing club members to a series of consultation workshops on Sports Official Abuse.
Project Outline | This consultation forms an element of the research on developing action plans and recommendations to reduce sport official abuse which is being conducted by Dr Noel Brick (Ulster University), Ben Parr (PhD Researcher, Ulster University), and other colleagues from Ulster University, Queen’s University Belfast, University of Lincoln, and Coventry University. The research project is supported by Sport Ireland and Sport NI.
Workshop Content | The workshops will consist of group discussions on actions plans and recommendations to reduce sport official abuse. By the end of the workshops, the project team hopes to agree positions on types of abusive behaviours toward sport officials and on action plans and recommendations to reduce abusive behaviours toward sport officials within different sports in Ireland.
Who Should Attend | Active sport officials (referees, umpires, judges) and sport coaches from any sport interested in contributing to this research. You will attend one 2-hour long workshop at a venue close to you.
Dates and Locations | The first in the series takes place on Wednesday 18th February 7.30pm Dublin, Abbottstown, National GAA centre, followed by a second on Tuesday 10th March Limerick , 7.30-9pm at Castletroy Park Hotel. The third takes place in Belfast on the same date at Newforge Sports Complex, Belfast.
