Boxing Ireland is expressing its deepest condolences to the Keogh family, following the death of Paddy.
Paddy Keogh was a founding member of Dublin Docklands Boxing Club, a highly respected referee, renowned for his empathy with young boxers in the ring and, for many years Registrar of the Dublin County Board.
In 2023, IABA bestowed the Lifetime Services to Boxing Award on him for his decades-long contribution to our sport at club, county, provincial and national level.
Paddy is pre-deceased by his wife, Olive, who also gave decades of service to boxing as Secretary of the Dublin County Board. Paddy is survived by his children Geraldine, Patrick, Matthew, Séan, Aileen and Philip and his grandchildren.
Boxing Ireland President, Anto Donnelly, says “Boxing thrives because of people like Paddy Keogh. The stalwart of his club, and giving of his time week in, week out, to officiating, to administering and to leading at club and county board level. This is a terribly sad time for Paddy’s family, all at Docklands and in Dublin Boxing. On behalf of Boxing Ireland and Central Council, I extend our deepest condolences.”
President of Dublin County Board, Art O’Brien, says “Paddy was one of a kind. He gave a lifetime of service to boxing. The early success of Dublin Docklands Boxing Club was built on his skill as a coach. As a referee, he sheparded thousands of boxers through their first bouts, and subsequent bouts throughout their careers. He was liked and admired by all, and my thoughts at this time are with Phil, his son and Docklands’ Head Coach, and Paddy’s extended family.’
Paddy will repose at Jennings Funeral Home Oscar Traynor Road Coolock D17FK58 on Thursday afternoon August 13th from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. Removal on Friday morning to St Brendan’s Church Coolock Village arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am followed by burial in Balgriffin Cemetery Ext.
