World Rankings | 5 Team Ireland Boxers feature

5 Team Ireland boxers are included in the top 12 in the world in their respective weights in the latest World Boxing rankings, released today.

2025 World Champion, Aoife O’Rourke, retains the top spot at Women’s 75kg with 1125 points. Her sister, Lisa, a 2022 World champ and 2025 world silver medalist, is ranked 10th in Women’s 70kg, with 225 points. Both are members of Castlerea BC, Roscommon.

Grainne Walsh, 2025 World Women’s 65kg bronze medalist is in the number 7 spot in her weight, on 450 points.

2025 World Bronze medalist, Patsy Joyce of Olympic Mullingar is in 7th place in Men’s 55kg, with 450 points. While heavyweight Jack Marley of Monkstown BC Dublin is 12th in his weight, with 250 points.

The rankings, which cover performances from July 2024 to May 2026 have been updated to include the Asian Boxing Elite Boxing Championships in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in March and April’s ‘World Boxing Cup: Brazil 2026 in Foz do Iguaçu’.

World Boxing ranking points are awarded for performances at the Olympic Games, World Boxing Cups, World Boxing Championships, Continental Championships, Continental Multi-Sport Games and the World Boxing Cup Finals.

They are then used for seeding boxers at competitions with the points issued on a three-year cycle. Boxers may not accumulate ranking points from more than four competitions at a given time.

The next ranking event of 2026 will be the World Boxing Cup China in Guiyang City, 15 to 21 June, which will be followed by the European Boxing Championships, in Sofia, 15 to 26 September, The Asian Games in Aichi/Nagoya, 19 September to 4 October, and the PanAmerican Boxing Championships in Puebla, 17 to 25 October.
