The inputs of all adult members of every affiliated club are invited as part of the development of Boxing Ireland’s Pathway Strategy.
This strategy is an athlete development framework designed to create a clear progression from grassroots club boxing to the High Performance Unit. It aims to:
- Reduce the significant athlete drop-off that typically occurs between the U19 and U23 age groups.
- Help talented athletes transition successfully into senior elite boxing.
- Ensure athlete development is based on long-term potential rather than short-term result
The strategy will also include key elements to promote and facilitate coach development.
This consultation process has also included interviews with members of the Central Council Coaching Commission, Provincial Council leaders, members of the Officer Board and Central Council, current and former High Performance athletes and coaches, and others.
This survey is anonymous, and includes the opportunity to take part in a dedicated online workshop to further examine how best to formulate the strategy. Any responded who wishes to take part in that workshop will need to include a contact email address in order to receive the access link.

The survey closes on August 11th.
Pathway Development Lead, Daithi McCabe, says “It is vital that we’re getting insights from everyone within the pathway; and getting insights from volunteers and clubs. These inputs on priorities for the pathway are extremely important”
