In advance of the Irish Athletic Boxing Association t/a Boxing Ireland AGM taking place at 2:30pm or shortly thereafter at the Glenroyal Hotel, Maynooth Co. Kildare. The notice was issued on September 11th and is availble here

Board Motions

Please find HERE three motions proposed by the Board of Directors, including the reason these motions are proposed, the full proposed resolution and the approval required. Clubs will be invited to vote on these motions at the AGM, and are further invited to review the applicable documentation:

1. Online EGM: Allows EGMs to take place online, or with both online and in-person attendance. This makes attendance easier, reduces travel costs, and confirms that online attendance counts towards the quorum.

2. Electronic Voting in Elections: Allows electronic voting in elections. Postal voting will remain available, on request. Votes must remain secret, secure, and open to proper validation. This changes the method used to vote in elections, only. It does not change the Constitution’s rules for attending or voting on motions at general meetings

3. Introduction of a €10 Youth Development Levy to support provincial and national youth development: To fund the Boxing Ireland Youth Development Levy, which will be allocated to provincial councils and national youth development pathway, as outlined in the attached document, to finance development opportunities for underage boxers.

Club Motions

3 proposed club motions were received in the period August 26th to September 18th.

  1. A club wished that rules contained in the Rulebook be abided by. As these rules are already in effect, this motion will not proceed.
  2. A club wished that Boxing Ireland lobby certain international bodies on under-age weight categories. This motion was deemed to be more applicable to the Boxing Convention and has been transferred to that meeting.
  3. A club wished that the Rulebook and Constitution be amended to accord State Services rights to take up seats at Central Council. Provisions according those rights to State Services are already enshrined in the Rulebook and Constitution. Therefore, this motion will not proceed.

Registration

  • Clubs successfully affiliated for the 2026/2027 season may register here  https://shout.com/s/BF6YxnSm  up to 5pm on Thursday, October 1st.
  • Eligible clubs may nominate any two adult members to attend as delegates – one to be a voting delegate, one to be a non-voting delegate. Delegates nominated by clubs must be over the age of 18. *Please note, delegates will be required to present photographic identification (passport, drivers’ licence, etc) on the day of the AGM.

Boxing Convention

To further promote positive engagement between clubs and Central Council, Boxing Ireland President Anto Donnelly invites all registered clubs to attend a Boxing Convention before the AGM, where clubs will discuss boxing related matters.

This will include an update on the Pathway Strategy, a presentation from High-Performance Director Jon Mackey, as well as an overview of new programme support being provided to clubs.

The Boxing Convention will begin at 10:45. Lunch will be served for all delegates at 13:30.
