14 wins for Team Ireland at the Opening Session of the Four Nations in Glasgow, across the U19 and Elite teams.
This is the first time all four federations – Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales have contested together in almost 2 decades
One in 5 Boxing Ireland clubs is represented on the team, which is drawn from 70 clubs in 25 counties and, in total, 86 boxers are travelling to contest for Ireland. Boxing Ireland President, Anto Donnelly, is Head of Delegation, while the Overall Team Manager is Anna Moore, of St. Francis BC, Limerick.
Speaking as boxing began this morning, Anto said “Its great to be in Motherwell today for the start of the Four Nations. For many’s the year it was missing – and it’s a great developmental opportunity for Irish boxers at various age groups to come as part of one team to build bridges between all four nations. Best of luck to all countries involved over the next four days”
Action continues with Elite and U19 finals from 11am on Friday. Team Ireland U17 and U15s are in action on Saturday and Sunday.
