Boxing Ireland’s Adam Hession has been elected Vice Chair of European Boxing’s Athlete Commission.

The commission will aim to represent the views, rights, and interests of elite boxers across Europe, ensuring that athlete perspectives shape policy and the development of the sport.
Membership of this commission is a key leadership role in athlete-centred boxing governance, and Boxing Ireland extends congratulations to Adam, his club and family.
Elections took place on Thursday, September 24th and Friday September 25th at the European Elite Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria. Thursday’s ballot elected the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the commission. The vote on Friday elected the Athlete’s Commission members.
Germany’s Tatjana Obermeier has been elected Chair, with Adam, of Monivea BC Galway, returned as Vice Chair. The elected Ordinary Members of the Commission are Busenaz Sürmeneli, Turkey, Lewis Richardson, Great Britain and Oshin Tahnee Annick Derieuw, Belgium. Full results are available here
The European Boxing Election Committee, appointed to oversee these elections, was Garbiñe Ituño González LLM in International Sports Law from ISDE University, Spanish Attorney-at-Law and Stefan Ivanov, Professor in Elections and Electoral Systems from the New Bulgarian University, Election Observer from Transparency International.
