Gary Stewart celebrates one year as Boxing Ireland CEO today, and is reflecting on the last 12 months
In that time, IABA re-branded to Boxing Ireland, signed keynote partnerships with Nike, Sting and Punctual Print, launched a new website but, as importantly, Gary says, is the sense of partnership throughout the sport.
Those collaborations and partnerships include with the Board of Directors, Central Council and the Officer Board, provincial councils and clubs.
Gary says “I’ve really loved getting out in to the clubs, in to the stadium, getting to meet the volunteers, work with our staff who are incredibly dedicated, Board of Directors and Central Council. Its been really refreshing. I’ve enjoyed learning about the sport, making some positive changes. I know there’s lots more to do!”
In the last 12 months, Boxing Ireland has appointed a Chief Operations Officer in Clare McCauley, and a Pathway Development Lead, Daithi McCabe and is now rolling-out a new CRM, The Corner, to make the administration of clubs by Secretaries more efficient, and easier.
The most impactful change for clubs in the year ahead, Gary says, is the re-structuring of the Development Department to include a Head of Club Support and regional Support Managers “Embedded these new Development Officers in the community, working with the clubs and seeing what impact they can have is, really, what I’m most looking forward to over the next 12 months.
