Team NI | CWG Recognition Event

All 12 members of Team NI Boxing, who are on the countdown to the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, were honoured at a special ceremony in Belfast last night.

The gathering of team members, friends, family and club-mates was addressed by Ulster Provincial President Kevin Duffy, Boxing Ireland CEO Gary Stewart, Boxing Ireland High Performance Director Jon Mackey and and Chief Operations Officer Clare McAuley. Also attending last night were Ulster Provincial Council Secretary Charles Toland, and Antrim President, Paddy Barnes Snr.

Earlier this week, Team NI Boxing’s co-captains were named as Caitlin Fryers of Immaculata BC, Belfast and Jude Gallagher of Two Castles OBA Tyrone.

Boxing is Team NI’s most successful sport, having won 61 CWG medals, of which 13 are gold. Team NI topped the medal table in the ring four years ago in Birmingham with 5 golds and silver and a bronze.

Boxing at the SEC Centre on the Scottish Event Campus will take place from Friday July 24th to Saturday, August 1st. July 30th is a rest day. Afternoon Sessions will, typically, begin at 11am and Evening Sessions at 6pm.

In advance of the Games and as part of Team NI Boxing’s preparations, Ulster Provincial Council is hosting a 10 day multi-nations training and sparring camp in Belfast, beginning on July 6th.
